Bad Girls (Extended Cut)

  • Extended Cut
A blind woman, whose sight has only recently been restored, thinks she's witnessed a brutal murder. Starring Madeline Stowe and Aidan Quinn. Directed by Michael Apted. Year: 1994 Director: Michael pted Starring: Madeleine Stowe, Aidan Quinn, James RemarIn a small Florida town, a tantalizing tale of mystery, passion and fatal obsession unfolds under the sultry spell of a full moon. OscarÂ(r) nominee* and Golden GlobeÂ(r) winner** Ed Harris (Apollo 13) and Madeleine Stowe (The Last of the Mohicans) turn up the heat in this sexy, stylish thriller. Together with co-stars OscarÂ(r) winner Benecio Del Toro*** (Traffic) and Charles Dance, Harris and Stowe deliver searing performances in this deliciously dark web of love, lust and lies that "keeps you guessing" (Los Angeles Times) until the final mesmerizing frame. Homicide detective Kyle Bodine (Harris) is the best in the business. ! Buteven a cop as brilliant as Kyle can become confused in the embrace of a seductive woman. What starts as a casual flirtation with local beauty Rachel Munro (Stowe) escalates into a desire that cannot be denied. And when Rachel's need to escape her unhappy marriage to an abusive banker ends in murder, Kyle becomes trapped in a bewildering nightmare of deceit and deadly betrayal. *2002: Supporting Actor, The Hours; 2000: Actor, Pollock; 1998: Supporting Actor, The Truman Show; 1995: Supporting Actor, Apollo 13 **1998: Supporting Actor, The Truman Show ***2000: Supporting Actor, TrafficEd Harris, Madeline Stowe, and Benicio Del Toro star in this tricky modern noir. Harris plays Kyle Bodine, a police detective with a keen eye for detail and seemingly all the answers. His axiom is that murderers "always screw it up sooner or later," and if you think those words won't come back to haunt him, you don't know your suspense movies. He soon runs into Rachel (Stowe), who is rich, ! beautiful, and married to an abusive husband. The plot rolls a! long nic ely toward the murder we all know is coming, then gives a few good twists on the way out. Del Toro, not yet famous in this 1991 release, does a terrific more-than-meets-the-eye acting job as Kyle's partner Lamar. This is a fun thriller that hits all the suspense film marks but still manages to keep a few surprises up its sleeve. --Ali DavisREVENGE - DVD Movie

This often grisly, arguably racist movie stars Kevin Costner as a U.S. Navy pilot who is the improbable friend of a powerful, vaguely criminal Mexican millionaire (Anthony Quinn). While visiting the latter on his estate, Costner's character has an affair with his host's gorgeous young wife (Madeline Stowe), for which he is almost beaten to death and the wife mutilated and turned into a junkie prostitute (nice, eh?). The hero seeks retaliation, and you may want the same against director Tony Scott, who makes the navy sequences look like beefcake excerpts from his earlier hit film, Top Gun. However, if you! can stand the garishness, then perhaps the extreme violence won't be too bothersome, either. But expect a rough time either way. --Tom Keogh

The Films of Kevin Costner
Madeleine Stowe, Andie MacDowell, Drew Barrymore and Mary Stuart Masterson star in the wild Western story of four fallen women on the run. Branded as outlaws, pursued by a posse and tracked by Pinkerton detectives, the four must ride together to stay alive. But when they're double crossed by a gang of ruthless desperados, the women decide it's time to stop running, and start fighting! BAD GIRLS is a rough-riding, straight-shooting, fun-filled adventure that writes a whole new chapter in the lore of the Western hero!Viewers of this Hollywood-processed movie should prepare to suspend disbelief! : the four prostitutes turned outlaws will have flimsy excuses for being adept in gun slinging, stunt riding, and world knowledge. But this Western trips over a poor script of laughable plot points (secret plans are left out for wandering eyes, loot is taken without resistance) and a story that sticks forever in second gear. Never better or worse than Young Guns, with these intelligent actresses only part of the scenery. Drew Barrymore comes off the best, along with James LeGros as a meek rancher. --Doug Thomas
